Creating, Deleting & Opening FrontPage Webs
1 On the FrontPage Explorer’s File menu, point to New and choose FrontPage Web.
2 In the New FrontPage Web dialog box, select the type of FrontPage web you want to create. Choose one of the following:
- One Page Web creates a FrontPage web with a single page (the home page). Use this option to create a FrontPage web from scratch, with no generic or pre-existing content.
- Import an Existing Web will launch the Import Web Wizard, which is used to import an existing web into a new FrontPage web. This wizard will guide you through the process of importing an existing Web site.
- From Wizard or Template lists the Web Wizards and web templates you can choose from to create a new FrontPage web with suggested content. To view a description of the individual FrontPage web wizards and templates, click the wizard or template you want to use. The description will appear just below the list box.
3 Enter a descriptive title for your new FrontPage web in the Choose a Title for Your FrontPage Web field.
4 Click OK.
5 If you are prompted for your administrator name and password, enter them in the Name and Password Required dialog box, and click OK.
Note FrontPage will suggest a location for the new FrontPage web based on the currently selected Web server or folder. To choose a custom location, click Change in the New FrontPage Web dialog box to display the Change Location dialog box. In this dialog box, enter a new location for your FrontPage web and specify whether a secure connection is required.
You can delete the current FrontPage web in the FrontPage Explorer. When you delete a FrontPage web, it cannot be recovered. You need to be authorised as an administrator in the root web in order to delete a FrontPage web.
1 On the FrontPage Explorer’s File menu, choose Delete FrontPage Web.
2 If necessary, enter your administrator name and password in the Name and Password Required dialog box, then click OK.
3 In the Confirm Delete dialog box, choose Yes.
1 On the FrontPage Explorer’s File menu, choose Open FrontPage Web.
2 In the Getting Started dialog box, select Open an Existing FrontPage Web and choose the FrontPage web you want to open. Click More Webs if the web you want to open is not listed.
3 Click OK.
4 If you are prompted for your author name and password, enter them in the Name and Password Required dialog box, and click OK.
